Shaken…not stirred

If I had a dollar for every time someone used that line at the bar, I would have retired years ago.

Every guy that watched Casino Royale insists on using the famous line the next time they go to the bar.

First of all, martinis are not supposed to be shaken because air is added during agitation, causing the martini to get cloudy.

It also breaks up the ice and little ice shards will pass through for you to choke on.

Proper martinis are to be stirred gently to ensure the cocktail will be crystal clear.

The Vesper Martini is named after Vesper Lynd, a double agent and also Bond’s love interest in the movie.

Bond invents the martini which consists of:

-3 parts Gin

-1part Vodka

-1/2 oz. Kina Lillet

-Shaken hard

-Garnished with a lemon twist

Don’t mess with the bartender

There is something to be said about common courtesy. There is a lot to be said about the lack there of. When you are out enjoying an evening on the town, whether it be at a restaurant, or a bar, standard common courtesy rules STILL apply.

If you order something at the bar, say please.

If the bartender says “hi how are you?” your response should NOT be “rum and coke”.

When the bartender or sever brings you something, say thank you.

Do NOT whistle, or snap your fingers at the bartender.

Your servers name is NOT sweetie, honey, or hot stuff.

Under NO circumstances is it proper to touch the bartender or server.

If everyone can comply with these criteria, then we can all have a pleasant experience. Failure to comply with any of these criteria may result in you being cut off!

Do you know where your children are?

Unattended children will receive a double espresso and a free puppy!

I understand that after a long day at work, no one feels like slaving over a hot stove to prepare a meal for the entire family.

So you’ve decided to pack up the gang to enjoy a family meal at the local restaurant.

Once the family arrives, they plug the kids full of Shirley Temples, give them a pocket full of change, and send them running wild throughout the restaurant.

To many times I’ve witnessed unattended children run over by servers carrying trays of food, pots of coffee, and rounds of cocktails.

I understand that you need a night off from the kids once in a while; however turning them loose in a busy environment is not the way to do it.

We do not want to drop full orders of food or drink, and we most certainly do not want your kids to get hurt, so please keep an eye on your own kids.

May I suggest Chuck E Cheese next time?
